Bill Munger (from Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) and Emery Boose hiked miles through the beautiful, snowy forest with students to familiarize them with current Harvard Forest research. Experts in their fields, these researchers discussed how to measure the speed of a river's water flow, how vegetation and carbon are affected by artificially warmed soil, and Harvard Forest's net intake and output of carbon - measured high in the hemlock canopy by devices on the Prospect Hill Towers.
